I know 2 inches of snow is mind blowing to you. But this is just what a normal morning looks like.
In fact, today was the first day I haven’t had snow on my car in about 2 weeks. Photo was from yesterday.
Any ways my point was, keep posting. It amuses me. Haha

I live in north east... news of this upcoming 3 inch snowfall seems like end of the world is upon us. Yeah... 3 inches... yeah... it will be cold... guess what... normal for winter time...

It’s more of the fact that the cost of getting everything together to deal with any snow is cost prohibitive for 1-4 days a year. If there was something that happened rarely up north you would have th e same problem.

Meanwhile in Wisconsin I’m trying to decide between making myself a sandwich out of the ingredients I keep in the fridge at my office, or going to the falafel joint, and the main point of consideration is whether I feel like changing back in to my boots to go get falafel. Actually I just checked out the window and it looks like the parking lot is now saltwater instead of slush so I might not even have to put my boots on.

Yeah it works both ways. Down here all I’ve done is complain and hide inside and drink hot chocolate for the past three days that have been between 25 and 34 out. But come summer when it hits 90-95 up in PA where I grew up for a 3 day stretch my family will be hiding in the AC and I’ll be down here going for my usual 3 mile run outside in the afternoon.

I wish we had slush in the part of WI I’m at. We got just a dusting of snow last night and the grass is barely covered from previous dustings/the 3 inches we got right before Christmas.
Its been DAMN COLD though.

It’s also damn cold here but we got an inch or two overnight. By morning the parking lots were slush and now it appears to be passable. Still haven’t left to go to the falafel joint yet. I should really do that soon.

I’m always amused by people making a big deal out of a little snow. What really amused me this morning though was when the news was talking about the cold weather on the east coast like it was super dangerously cold, temps were somewhere around -2°F. They had interviews with New Yorkers bitching about how cold it was making a big deal of it all. Please... I saw it hit -27 this last weekend, without windchill. It’s slightly above zero right now and I’m debating whether or not I really need by big coat*.
*I do, but compared to this last weekend it feels downright warm out.

that’s the thing tho. In the north we get months of Hot and Cold! we’ll have two month at 90 or above and then 4 months of frozen hell. I learned over time the only thing i really hate is wind. that’s more or less all I complain about these days, stupid wind. either too much or too little!

And it’s not even like -2 is unheard of on the east coast either, it happens at least once every few winters, and sometimes even colder. The lowest I’ve seen where my thermometer’s at is -21, and that was only like 3 years ago.

I am not talking about the southern states... I understand it’s normally warm down there. It makes no sense to have a snow plow in hawaii. I am more pissed off at north east area. Every channel is blowing up that it will be snowing tomorrow... 3 inches. State of emergency is about to be declared cuz it will be cold and no one is to go outdoors.
The irony of calling snowflakes snowflakes during snow storm...

I the defense of southerners, they don’t really have the infrastructure to deal with snow. Snow removal just isn’t in the budget for a lot of these towns, as there’s almost never a need.
I’d bitch too if I were in the south. It just shouldn’t ever snow over the Gulf of Mexico. Something isn’t right with that picture.

last year, just like now, weather channel and all other channels were buzzing with the monster snow storm coming. To prepare, they declared premature state of emergency. No one was to be on the road. No school. No nothing. Snow storm arrives. It sprinkles like 4 inches of snow. Barely enough to pull out a snow shovel for. God forbid they find me on a highway going to work... jail time... guantanamo bay... whatever...
Later they called out the news and politicians.. basically they said - oh well... we knew it wasn’t gonna be that bad... but we didnt want to have people on the road so snow plows can clean up right quick...
Yeah. Lost my trust. I am getting on the road. I’ve got 4x4 and snow tires on. Winch if need be. Catch me to fine me. I am going to work damn it.

I live in northern Georgia (Athens. Go dawgs! Gonna win the Natty) yet I haven’t seen a flurry of snow. If the other southerners are complaining, at least they see snow

I’m in the NC mountains, so what tends to happen here in the winter is 4" or so of snow on top of ice, which then goes through repeated melt/freeze cycles and re-ices the roads. Which are at least slightly twisty and up/down.
